Science of Beer is our signature 21+ winter event that brings together beer-lovers and science enthusiasts for an evening of discovery. Guests enjoy unlimited craft beer samples from local, national, and international breweries while exploring the entire science center after hours. The night includes access to hands-on exhibits, brew-inspired live science demonstrations, mead tastings from Savannah Bee Company, planetarium shows, and a beer-themed craft in the i2 Makerspace. Volunteers play a vital role in making this event run smoothly and safely.
Volunteer support during the event may include:
- Assisting with the setup of vendor booths and activity stations
- Welcome guests, assist with check‑in, and provide general wayfinding support throughout the event.
- Help manage lines and capacity for timed activities such as planetarium shows, live science shows, home‑brewing demos, and the mead tasting experience.
- Support science booths by guiding guests through activities like the Supertaster Test, Beer Goggles Gauntlet, and pressure demonstrations, and help reset materials as needed.
- Assist in the Makerspace “PongLab” by keeping supplies organized, helping guests participate, and maintaining activity flow.
- Running ice and providing general support to event stations
