Volunteer: Science of Beer 21+ Event

Science of Beer is our signature 21+ winter event that brings together beer-lovers and science enthusiasts for an evening of discovery. Guests enjoy unlimited craft beer samples from local, national, and international breweries while exploring the entire science center after hours. The night includes access to hands-on exhibits, brew-inspired live science demonstrations, mead tastings from Savannah Bee Company, planetarium shows, and a beer-themed craft in the i2 Makerspace. Volunteers play a vital role in making this event run smoothly and safely.

Support during the event may include:

Wayfinding and guest assistance throughout the science center

Supporting the “Effects of Beer on the Body” science demo area

Facilitating other exciting science activities and demonstrations

Running ice and providing general support to event stations

Assisting with trash and recycling removal to keep spaces clean

Managing seating and guest flow for Sudekum Planetarium shows

What Volunteers Should Bring

Comfortable, closed-toe shoes (you may be walking and standing frequently)

Optionally, a reusable water bottle

Please note:

Volunteers must be at least 21 years old.

Volunteers may not consume alcohol at any time during their shift.

Volunteers will not handle, pour, or serve alcohol.

We appreciate your help in creating a fun, engaging, and safe evening for all our guests!

Volunteer: Touch-A-Truck

Our wildly-popular, annual Touch a Truck event returns! Children (and adults!) will have a chance to see and touch heavy machinery utilized in the construction industry and speak with the people who operate them. We will have a variety of equipment on display and host floor cart activities promoting engineering. This special day is sure to be a ton of fun.

Volunteers will be assigned to machinery and asked to assist the visitors at the equipment i.e. making sure everyone is engaging with the machinery in a safe manner. Volunteers may also be asked to take photos of families in front of the equipment.

This volunteer opportunity counts as a Specialty Day for CR3W volunteers!

Program: Open Opportunities

Our wildly-popular, annual Touch a Truck event returns! Children (and adults!) will have a chance to see and touch heavy machinery utilized in the construction industry and speak with the people who operate them.
